The original 8000 series have been re-engineered for the 21st century and the resulting 6000 models extended to embrace digital music streaming. Originally created by Philip Swift and Derek Scotland over 30 years ago, Audiolab has always designed high-performance electronics at real-world prices and with a great build quality. Alternatively, the 6000N can be connected to an external DAC or even to an amplifier with digital inputs, such as the Audiolab 6000A, which features the same high-quality Sabre32 chip. ![]() The 'advertised to play at '96 kHz / 24 bit' in the TIDAL app is only for those devices that support MQA files and can decode them to the MQA Core signal, aka 'first unfold'. Thanks to the high-quality Sabre32 DAC chip, the 6000N can be connected to any system via its analogue RCA output. There's no mention of the 6000N supporting MQA files in its specs (only TIDAL) on the Audiolab website. The network player also supports high-resolution playback up to 24-bit 192kHz and features the fantastic ES9018 Sabre32 DAC chip, which when coupled to Audiolab's own circuitry, produces ultra-low noise, high dynamic range, high-resolution music. The DTS Play-Fi app provides access to a wealth of music services, such as Spotify, Tidal, HDTracks, Deezer, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Napster, TuneIn, iHeartRadio and of course Bluetooth. The 6000N Play combines the well-established versatility and compatibility of the DTS Play-Fi wireless audio platform, found in products from companies such as Rotel, Arcam, McIntosh, Sonus-Faber and Pioneer, to name a few.
